So, tonight was a pretty important basketball game for my son. Their varsity team may just make it to the playoffs and even take the championship. It’s been years since their school has even come close. They really needed to win this game. We were all kind of surprised when we found out three of the first string were not playing tonight. What could possibly be more important than this game? Hang on to your hats: Bible camp. They all decided to go to Bible camp. One of the boys is the top scorer on the team too and then to add to their misery, another of the first stringers hurt his knee last week and is out.
The three deserters are pretty devout Christians, obviously, and two are very open about it. Praying before games, thanking “god” for their wins. It’s all very inspiring. So many believed that the boys would lose tonight without their Christian crusaders, the ones that say that owe it all to “god” when they score and play well.
Well, guess who “god” blessed tonight? That’s right, with no prayers prayed, no fingers pointing to heaven, no Christian crusaders, we won. And who did “god” bless as the top scorer tonight? Why the biggest heathen on the team-my son! He actually made a mid court shot at the half-time buzzer. Could it be that hard work, determination and training well had something to do with the win instead of Jesus? Nah…that’s couldn’t be it. Could it?
